I previously have hiked the Pontotoc Ridge Trail (see here), but this time I just stayed on the official trail and didn’t continue further up the ridge. Instead, I just took my time, took more photos and videos and enjoyed the view, which is very nice even if you don’t go to the top of the ridge. The official part of the trail rises just 1170 feet above the parking lot and is only a 5 mile round trip hike. But be sure to arrive early on the weekend as that small parking lot at the trailhead fills up.
To get to the trailhead, just go north on Alvernon Way off of Skyline drive. The Pontotoc trail shares the same trailhead as the Finger Rock trail.
